An earthquake measuring 7.2 ricter scale (SR) shook Japan this morning. The quake shook buildings hundreds of miles from Tokyo. Meteorological Agency immediately issued a tsunami warning.
Up to now not found reports of damage and casualties caused by the earthquake.
Meteorological Agency said the quake occurred at 11:45 local time. Earthquake swirling in 150 miles off the southeast coast, approximately 440 kilometers southeast of Tokyo. The quake centered at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The tsunami waves as high as 60 centimeters hit the coastal city of Ofunato, in Iwate Prefecture. Meteorological Agency warned tsunami waves as high as 50 inches will hit the coast.
"We have confirmed the occurrence of a small tsunami, but until now there has been no reports of damage. We are still assessing the impact of the earthquake," said emergency response officials in Iwate Prefecture Shinobu Nagano was quoted as saying by the Associated Press
